Hello {!firstname}:
I'm
back, and am about as relaxed as this cat. We had glorious weather (bookended by
a storm the night we arrived and rain on the drive home two weeks later) every
single day. We laughed, relaxed, re-connected, read, hiked, and ate really great
food
-- one of our all time favorite pastimes. :-)
I always think of the fall as a fresh start like all those back-to-school years,
and I'm especially excited about this new season. Lots of big doing's being
planned here at Revolutionize Retirement starting with the new radio show. And,
that’s the least of it! No, I'm not telling you anything else (yet), and yes,
I'm such a tease, so you'll just have to stay tuned!
To your fall fresh start AND endless possibilities!

Mark Your Calendars!
The 2010 Costa Rica trip is on for
the week of March 22nd, and it's going to be awesome. More details to follow in
the next few weeks. YIKES. . .better up my exercise quotient so I can fit into
that gorgeous bathing suit I haven't dared to don in the past three years!

We got another mention in the AARP
Bulletin (August Issue).
This time Blair Walker wrote a nice blurb about the Boomer Boot Camp in his
article
"Workshops, Coaches Help Older Adults Get a Grip on What Really Works after
Work".
The bad news? The next Boomer Boot Camp won't be until next summer. The good
news:
Retire
Retirement Boot Camp (my passion and my personal favorite!) is coming up
a lot sooner. It's being held the weekend of November 20th at Kripalu Yoga &
Health Center.

What's Your Greatest Challenge?
by Lin Schreiber, Retirement
Coach
I
like to shake things up from time to time to keep life interesting, so I
figure it's time to shake up Living with the Brakes Off! a bit, by turning the
tables on you.
In my most recent articles, I've encouraged you to adjust your attitude about
age, shift your perspective about retirement, and stretch outside your comfort
zone as you explore what’s next for you. I've explained why it's important to
take the time to discover what you really want to be doing before you leap
into the nuts and bolts of getting a job or starting your own business or jump
at whatever is right in front of you.
I've also shared some simple -- yet powerful -- exercises for helping you figure
out what you want, uncover what you value most at this time in your life, and
define your expertise. And, hopefully, I've inspired you with stories of real
life people (including me) who have been where you are now. People who faced
the fear of the unknown, and are thriving in their new lives, happier than
they've been in years.
So, now it's your turn. What's your greatest challenge you're having right now
around your encore career?
Perhaps you're having trouble imagining how work might fit into the kind of
life you now want to be living. Or, possibly you can't see the many
opportunities that are available to you, or the countless paths an encore
career might take. Maybe you just need some more internal work (i.e. build
your confidence or become more resilient). Or, you could use some support in
saying goodbye to your "old" life.
Whatever it is, I want to know. Really! So, what's the greatest challenge
you're having right now around our encore career? I look forward to getting
your email. |

I love, love, love, love, love the
film "Julie & Julia"!!!!!
I'm pretty sure you will, too. The "older" woman sitting next to me was dragged
by her daughter, didn't like Julia Child, and was not looking forward to it at
all. As the end credits were rolling I gingerly asked her what she thought. "I
LOVED IT," she enthusiastically replied. I rest my case!

spacing issue in the Lin Recommends section since she can't see spacing between
the bottom of the image and the blog section.

With new beginnings, some good
things come to an end. So, it is with a mixture of sadness and delight that I've
posted my last RealforMe.com blog.
While I'm sad to say goodbye to my friends at RealforMe, I'm delighted to be
passing the torch to Carol Orsborn, Sr. Strategist and Boomerologist at Vibrant
Nation. Carol is a kindred spirit, work/life expert, and real dynamo. I just
read her first Inner Excellence blog and it's terrific.
See it here.
If you do not know about
VibrantNation.com, check it out. It's an awesome peer-to-peer site
"where women 50+ exchange information and join in smart conversation."
And, beginning in the next issue, The WOW Zone! Talk Radio weekly show
information will appear in this spot. |
